ODA Dental Conference, April 4-6, 2024

Welcome to the Oregon Dental Conference

We are committed to providing an experience that focuses on wellness, learning, and connecting with our community. As a new dentist, we understand that you are eager to expand your knowledge and skills, and we are here to help you achieve your goals.

The conference will feature a range of workshops, lectures, and networking opportunities that are designed to help you enhance your practice, learn about the latest industry trends, and connect with like-minded professionals. From hands-on workshops to informative lectures, our program has something for everyone.

But it's not just about learning. We believe that wellness is an integral part of being a successful dentist. That's why we have incorporated wellness-focused activities into our program, including yoga sessions, wellness lectures, and massage chairs. We want to help you take care of yourself so that you can take care of your patients.

Plus, our conference is an excellent opportunity to connect with other members of the dental community. Whether you are looking to make new friends, find a mentor, or expand your professional network, our conference is the perfect place to do so. You'll have the chance to meet dentists from all over the state, share your experiences, and learn from one another.

So what are you waiting for? Join us at the 2024 Oregon Dental Conference and experience a wellness-focused, educational, and community-driven event that will leave you feeling inspired and empowered.

ODC New Dentist Course

Hurts So … Swell! Management of Acute Dental Pain and Appropriate Opioid Prescribing
Thomas Viola, RPh, CCP
Saturday, April 6, 8:00 am - 11:00 am

Management of acute odontogenic pain is accomplished through a clinical approach that successfully incorporates both opioid and non-opioid analgesics. However, moderate to severe dental pain often occurs well after office hours and away from our immediate supervision. Thus, it is critical for clinicians to accurately identify a patient’s need for pain control, develop an individualized pain management plan, and assess the efficacy of analgesic agents employed. This course will provide strategies for effectively managing dental pain with opioid and non-opioid analgesics and analgesic adjuvants, while also mitigating associated risks. Special emphasis will be given to appropriate practices for prescribing analgesics as well as identification and treatment of opioid analgesic abuse.
