Success and Preparation for Special Needs Patients ….plus Treating Patients with Autism

This course will discuss the steps that a practitioner can take to help guide patients with special needs to be treated successfully in a dental setting.  Materials and guidelines that can be provided to the family and information that can be learned about the patient prior to the visit will be reviewed. A review of how to properly assess the patient’s abilities will be conducted.  A comprehensive documented home care regimen that should be provided to caretakers will be discussed.  Techniques for treatment and a review of technology and creativity that might be used will be explored. A review specific to the patient with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will also be provided.  Guidelines will be given for practitioners on how to easily incorporate these special patients into their practice and make their career more rewarding than they ever imagined it could be.
