1. Paradigm Shifts in Periodontal Therapy: Implementing Evolving Protocols
 

The practice of dental hygiene and preventive practice has changed over the past 25 years. Emerging sciences have led to key understanding of new methods to prevent and treat periodontal disease. This session will overview the ever changing paradigms surrounding the practice of dental hygiene with emphasis on evolving preventive & therapeutic protocols.

At the conclusion of this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Site significant changes in paradigms regarding preventive and therapeutic protocols, including minimally invasive approaches as well as the evolution of biomimetics
  • Review innovative and evolving technologies and products designed to prevent and treat periodontal diseases
  • Integrate new protocols, such as Full-Mouth Disinfection (FMD) and laser therapy into practice

 

2. Remineralization Strategies: Advancements in Fluoride, Calcium and Phosphate Technologies

This session will introduce participants to the latest advancement remineralization strategies, including fluoride, calcium and phosphate delivery systems as well as an overview of Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA). A review of science will include the desensitizing action, research reporting remineralization and other clinical benefits. Don't miss this interactive session designed to establish protocols to maximize remineralization and desensitization protocols.

At the conclusion of this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand how calcium, phosphate & fluoride work synergistically to provide optimal caries prevention and treatment of dentin hypersensitivity
  • Discuss the types of calcium phosphate systems available on the market today and identify products with these systems as well as the mechanisms of action for each type of system
  • Provide the rationale for use of calcium phosphate systems in combination with fluoride and their use in Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA) protocols

 

Ms. Menage Bernie a graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in dental hygiene, is the Director of Educational Designs, a national corporate consulting company based in San Ramon, CA and registered yoga teacher. She is an international speaker on a variety of topics as well as a facilitator of workshops for educators in dentistry. As a frequent contributor to national publications, she has served on numerous editorial boards, and has authored a chapter on Oral Malodor in the latest edition of Mosby's Dental Hygiene textbook. Kristy has been quoted in Esquire Magazine, Women's Health Magazine and interviewed by ESPN Radio. She has been featured on RDH Under One Roof as well as major dental conventions and is known for facilitating interactive, fast-paced sessions based on the latest technologies and research.
