Addressing Challenges in the Workplace: Recognizing and Responding to Abuse, Inappropriate Behavior, and Stressed Patients

Dental professionals are in a unique position to assess injuries that are the result of abuse and take action to support, protect, and possibly save the lives of patients. This seminar provides information and skills that will increase your ability to talk confidently with patients about possible signs of abuse and to set boundaries and de-escalate inappropriate or emotional behavior

Through interactive training in practical, real-life scenarios you develop assertive body language along with verbal and physical defense techniques. These skills are simple to learn and highly effective. Instructors demonstrate each technique, guide the group through interactive practice, and provide one-on-one instruction.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop skills to work with patients who are fearful or agitated
  • Learn to set boundaries and respond to inappropriate behavior
  • Gain valuable information about how to recognize and respond to signs of abuse in children and adults
