Oral Health Care for the Pregnant Patient
This comprehensive evidence-based course will review indications for oral health care in the pregnant patient with recommendations for appropriate therapies for each stage of pregnancy. A review of pharmacology for the pregnant patient and potential contraindications for fetal development will also be stressed. Special topics addressing hypertension, diabetes, heparin use, aspirin use and risk of aspiration during pregnancy will also be addressed.
At the conclusion of this course, attendees will be able to practice dentistry on the pregnant patient utilizing the most current evidence based standards recommended by both the American Dental Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Stacy Geisler, DDS, PhD is a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing in Lake Oswego, OR. She lectures extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest and is known for providing outstanding surgical care for her patients. Dr. Geisler serves as an evidence based reviewer for the Journal of the American Dental Association and has had numerous peer-reviewed publications.
