Short Term Orthodontics for the General Dentist
 
 
This course provides an overview of Short Term Orthodontics for general dentists. The course touches on the philosophy of treatment, case selection, treatment planning, treatment protocol, retention and occlusion. Regardless of a dentists orthodontic experience, this course will inform and stimulate thinking about this relatively new type of orthodontic treatment. 
 
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
  •  Understand the Short Term Orthodontic treatment philosophy
  •  Understand Short Term Orthodontic treatment protocol
  •  Describe retention considerations
  •  Describe pros and cons of Short Term Orthodontic treatment
  •  Understand the limitations and benefits of Short Term Orthodontic treatment
  •  Describe some of the key occlusal considerations associated with Short Term Orthodontic treatment
 
Dr. Ryan Swain is the President and Chief Clinical Instructor for Six Month Smiles.  He trains dentists internationally in Short Term Orthodontics and is constantly working to make orthodontics more accessible for General Dentists.  Dr. Swain practices in Rochester, NY and focuses exclusively on Short Term Orthodontics and other forms of conservative cosmetic dentistry.  He is a general dentist.  He lives in Scottsville, NY with his wife Bree and young children Abbot and Arie. He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
